Masonry Heater Association*
April 10 - 16
MHA is an association of builders, manufacturers and retailers of masonry heaters whose purpose is to promote the industry, sponsor research and development, shape regulations, standards and codes, inform and educate the public, and further the expertise and professionalism of its membership.
During their week at Wildacre the MHA conducts its annual business meetings, hold seminars, certification, and builds wood fired heaters, ovens, and a pizza oven.

Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies*
April 17 - 23
The Eastern Federation has enjoyed holding workshops at Wildacres for the past 36 years. During the week-long sessions, we offer participants of member clubs the opportunity to take classes in gem cutting, jewelry making and various other aspects of the earth science hobby. The sessions also feature prominent speakers and field trips as well as other interesting activities.

Charlotte National Board Retreat
April 20 - 26
The Teacher Professional Development Department of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools provides professional development and support for teachers who are currently in the process of completing National Board Certification, the highest level of certification for teachers. While attending an Institute, candidates may attend seminars, conference with NBCT staff, receive feedback on their writing, collaborate with colleagues, and participate in stress management activities. Our Institutes are open to candidates from across North Carolina and South Carolina.
Southern Star Astronomical Convention*
April 24 - 26
The Charlotte Amateur Astronomers Club will host the 23rd annual Southern Star Astronomical Convention at Wildacres on April 24-26 2009. We invite those interested in astronomy to join with us.
It is an opportunity for Southeastern Astronomical Societies to share their interests and club activities with each other and enjoy a variety of speakers and associated events in a secluded mountain setting.

Spring Gathering*
April 27 - May 1
Started in 2000, the annual gathering is a time for artists, writers, photographers, quilters, potters, jewelers, musicians, and others to come to Wildacres to work. There is no instruction during the gatherings but a great amount of sharing, and we ask that everyone attending come with a project. There is still space for this gathering and those interested please contact us.
